We did not expect  that in 2021 the battles we fought and won sixty years ago would be in question today, but here we are.  I founded the Women of Color Roar breakfast in 2017 to honor Black women elected officials and encourage young Women of Color to run for office and seek careers in public service.  I was surprised to discover that celebrating and uplifting Black women would put me in the cross-hairs of so many who claimed to be allies. And even though four years later, we have a Black/WOC as Vice President of the United States, the resistance from the right and the left continues. When then candidate and Senator from California, Kamala Harris had to remind then Vice President Pence, that, &quot;I'm Speaking&quot; during their debate.  It spoke volumes. Black women always have to assert ourselves to be heard.  We are systematically spoken over, erased and discounted.  &quot;Black Women are Speaking&quot; is the space where we are going to heard and we are going to be understood. We will roll out the podcast, the blog, the workshops and utilize every form of technology both known and unknown to inform, educate and motivate everyone we touch.
